Congratulations to Mr Davies for winning 9th Section 14th Open National Maidstone 186 miles and the mother (Miss Bond) was 11th Section 19th Open National This was a YOUNG BIRD National!
The story is Mr Davies bought a kit of birds from us in 2013 and he collected them we named one Miss Bond because she was a hen with the last three of her ring number being 007. She has scored no lower than 5th in every race she has competed in as a young bird in 2013. She paired up to one of the cocks that was purchased at the same time. Thay had a baby and reared it, the baby was rung and it had 2 races. His first race he was 6th Section 7th Open Welsh South Road Federation Salisbury 69 miles 1,665 birds. His second and last race in 2013 was a National race. Miss Bond and her son were both in the race the son was the 1st bird to drop for Mr Davies and 3 minutes later the next bird dropped was Miss Bond. He lost 9 minutes trapping because they were not hungry enough to come in but the son was 14th Open National and the mother (Miss Bond) was 19th Open National in the same race! This is a shortened story but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a mother and son racing in a young bird race and being so successful!
