Rod Sparkes is known as one of the best sprint fanciers in the UK — his results over the years can only be described as breathtaking. Rod has won 5 RPRA Awards and 2nd National Ace Pigeon all UK RPRA — all from just a 19ft loft.

One of Rod's best years was 2019 where he won an incredible 35 x 1sts and 26 x 2nds, smashing the club record by winning 17 x 1sts clubs out of 21 races including 1st through 13th Federation 2,637 birds. Rod usually has 7 or 8 in the top fifteen of the Fed most weeks. His results were so impressive that Versele Laga sponsored him under contract for 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Rod has scouted Europe for the very best pigeons, working with top lofts including Luc Van Mechelen, GWP Macaloney and Gibb and Byrne. The birds we house at Tumley Lofts are direct from Rod himself and from his key breeding partners Ian and Peter Gibb and Henry Byrne — the principal producers in this exceptional sprint family.
